“Covid-19 Recovery and Early Years’ Education – Supporting Children’s Learning in the Foundational Stage” has been prepared in the context of the current Education Emergency due to the long spell of school closure resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. It builds on the guidance provided in the publication ‘A Future at Stake’ and focuses on foundational learning for children aged 3-8 years. It is guided by the view that while school closure has led to significant ‘learning loss’ which needs to be identified and addressed, this is also an opportunity to renew foundational learning practices and put this stage on a sound footing.
