Dear friends,
Starting from this issue, we will be providing a brief /fortnightly/
/internal update /to those who are participating in the work/ meetings
of the National Coalition on the Education Emergency (*NCEE*). We feel
this will be useful, as our network has expanded, and many activities
are being organized in parallel. The newsletter, for a broader
circulation, will be issued monthly. The internal update will take only
a few minutes to read. Feel free to make suggestions and any help in any

_*1. *__*Social Mobilization Group*_ (A big thank you for the many
people who helped with these activities)

_Maharashtra_: NCEE spoke at a meeting on Sept 18, organized by the
RTE Forum, Maharashtra
<https://educationemergency.net/advocacy-campaigns/>and other
organizations, and discussed the education emergency context and the
work of the Coalition. The research brief released by the NCEE was
presented to an audience of around 450 teachers, parents and RTE
activists, in Marathi.

_Jharkhand_: A meeting was held with various local organizations. A
larger public meeting will be organized in early October. Among
other things, the findings of the SCHOOL survey and ongoing work

of the NCEE will be presented.

_Telengana_: A meeting was held with local organizations and
representative of low-cost private schools. The organizations will
also explore doing the NCEE high frequency rapid surveys. A larger
public meeting is planned before the end of September.
_*2. **Education Support Group *_

The Education Support Group had prepared a template for documenting
the work done by organizations in ‘community learning centres’
during the pandemic. Six organizations have shared their work

this template. Their documents is being collated to create a note on
pedagogical innovations that would be relevant to teachers in
schools as well.

The Group is collating learning resources and is in the process of
sharing these in a curated manner through a MediaWiki repository

_*3. **Education Research Group*_

The Research Group released a ‘Research Brief

which is a summary of Indian and International researches on Covid
and Education, over last 18 months, in English and Hindi. The
compendium consisting of brief summary of each individual research
is available here

The group will update the research compendium _every two months_,

_Rapid survey of households on school re-opening experience_: The
questionnaire has been finalized. It has been translated into
Kannada and will be pre-tested along with the software. The survey
will be done in Karnataka and Telangana. Other surveys are planned
for teachers and school heads.

_State policy implementation tracker_. Data collection formats were
finalized. We are relying currently largely on media reports. We
hope to have a first visualization by September 25. A method for
submitting information through a Google Form on the website is being
devised.

_Guidelines for state governments_*. * This is under
preparation*.*Guidelines issued by the Government of India and few
