[17:01] Welcome to Home Room! For help on using BigBlueButton see these (short) tutorial videos. To join the audio bridge click the phone button. Use a headset to avoid causing background noise for others. This server is running BigBlueButton.
[17:10] Ekta_TISS: Let's begin
[17:15] Gurumurthy: In Karnataka, commissioner seems to think that scert will make its plan internally and if we give him some inputs he will hav a consultation arranged
[17:15] Gurumurthy: what these inputs are, we can ideate and plan and give
[17:15] Gurumurthy: it may not even be a one time input, but an ongoing process...but we may need to do so
[17:17] ramanujam: yes guru, what you say makes sense
[17:23] Gurumurthy: Jam, will need your/ranjani/mythili help for this
[17:23] Gurumurthy: welcome subhankar
[17:23] Subhankar: thanks Guru
[17:24] ramanujam: sure
[17:26] Subhankar: it's fine
[17:30] ramanujam: great job! its a good collection
[17:30] Somya Gubbachi: I need to stepout for a bit. Will join back.
[17:33] Gurumurthy: Ranjani, we can keep working on making resources accessible as wiki pages (in addition to downloadable PDFs). so teachers can also review it easily on phones etc
[17:35] Akila: no
[17:38] Gurumurthy: yes, we can suggest to the teacher groups we are part of
[17:39] Gurumurthy: same for bgvs
[17:39] Ekta_TISS: Something like this should be created for maths as well
[17:40] Gurumurthy: Ekta, maths also is here. Anusha presented before language was shared
[17:40] Ekta_TISS: I mean a detailed plan
[17:43] Gurumurthy: Ekta, pl raise your question as well
[17:46] Gurumurthy: the wiki portal can be flexible enough to cater to requirements of collecting feedback etc. (wiki itself has a 'talk/discussion' page for each content page which can be used
[17:49] Brinda: Yes, Guru. I think we should do that.
[17:49] Akila: govt of karnataka teachers have started with the text book for class 6 and 7
[17:50] Brinda: In Gubbalala, grade level teaching has begun for class 6 and 7
[17:50] ramanujam: i agree, but such documents need to be carefully articulated if we want the senior officialdom to take note
[17:50] Gurumurthy: yes this is dangerous and teachers need to be told - do not feel the pressure to start syllabus/grade level teaching right away
[17:51] Gurumurthy: yes jam, the govts will be eagerto dismiss us as 'dreamers' so careful wordingis needed
[17:51] Gurumurthy: all things will behappening :-)
[17:51] ramanujam: yes!
[17:52] Gurumurthy: akila good to get actual school teacher experiences/perspectives so we can plan interactions on that basis. (anusha we should do same with tcol teachers)
[18:00] Mythili: I agree. Learning center should be more to create habits, getting together with a responsible adult to explore resources, activities, listening to stories etc.
[18:00] Ekta_TISS: thanks ranjani
[18:01] Ekta_TISS: @mythili - sure..thanks for elaborating
[18:05] Gurumurthy: Yes, we must do that also. Share a resource repository from practicing teachers with the dept.
[18:06] Subhankar: I too feel this Guru
[18:06] Subhankar: We should do both
[18:08] Gurumurthy: thematic approaches + materials connected to these approaches... yes. agree
[18:09] Gurumurthy: agree
[18:10] Gurumurthy: we will get dept to engage with us on these ideas
[18:10] Gurumurthy: the purpose ispolitical
[18:10] Ranjani: Yes
[18:10] Ranjani: That part I agree
[18:10] Ekta_TISS: We had created a course on experential learning for CBSE last year
[18:10] Ekta_TISS: That has a project based learning and is based in Indian classroom
[18:11] Ekta_TISS: It also has sample lesson plans
[18:11] Gurumurthy: yes we will need to have a formal communication from scert to teachers... we need to enagage them in discussions for that
[18:14] Gurumurthy: subhankar we will need to try and engage DSERT consistently
[18:15] Subhankar: yes. It is.
[18:16] Gurumurthy: no comment from me
[18:17] Gurumurthy: we should also ask for school funds, to support purchases of stationery etc (worksheets etc)
[18:18] Gurumurthy: the TN approach itself if we can make a short note, we can share with other govts to encourage them to think in similar manner
[18:23] Gurumurthy: yes we could take that approach
[18:23] ramanujam: oh yes, it's a great way to do it
[18:24] ramanujam: we can offer such prototypes to scert
[18:25] Gurumurthy: mythili is best placed to engage scert :-)with her rich experience
[18:25] Gurumurthy: and past work with dsert
[18:26] Mythili: Yes. We can do that
[18:27] Gurumurthy: yesterday i suggested to director SSK that the 'nali kali' approach of not boxing children based on age groups needs to be extended to all levels
[18:28] Gurumurthy: this way a class 8 and class 9 and 10 stutdent can sit together in 'class ??) if they are at similar backgrounds
[18:28] ramanujam: yes
[18:28] Mythili: Ekta: we will also see how the volunteering work shapes up with our students including learning centres and then take it forward
[18:28] ramanujam: thank you all
[18:28] Ekta_TISS: Sure Mythili
[18:28] Mythili: With other B.Ed students
[18:29] Ekta_TISS: Sure..will help to discuss it further with you
[18:29] Ekta_TISS: will email you and Jennifer in our email thread
