[Research] [Updates] Statement By Child Rights Activists, Educators and Education Institutions and Individuals On Targeting And Exclusion of Hijab Wearing Muslim Women Students

Dear all,

As you know some colleges in coastal Karnataka have prevented Muslim 
women from studying, if they wore the Hijab. The issue has gotten worse 
- the High Court affirmed the ban in its interim order (a continued  
violation of the fundamental rights of these women). Still worse, the 
interim order is being wrongly used by colleges, police and district 
administration across the state, to prevent Muslim women and girls 
(teachers also)

attending colleges and schools, unless they remove the Hijab, often in 
front of the school/college gate. Such a 'ban' has spread to UP, MP etc.

endorsements from educators and child rights activists from across the 
country. (Feminists groups have issued a statement

this statement reflects concerns pertaining to the right to education.
