Subject: [Updates] Invitation to meeting of 'Social Mobilization' WG +updates on "National Coalition on Education Emergency"

Dear all,

After I shared the highlights<https://educationemergency.net/2021/08/highlights-of-the-meeting-of-the-education-emergency-coalition-on-16th-july/> of our meeting<https://educationemergency.net/2021/07/meeting-of-the-education-emergency-coalition-on-16th-july/> on 16th July, we have had a few activities of the National Coalition on the Education Emergency<https://educationemergency.net/what-is-educationemergency/>, as below:

  1. A Working group on “Education support to communities<https://educationemergency.net/pipermail/educationsupport_educationemergency.net/>” has been setup and has had two meetings so far. This group is working on producing a compilation of NGO interventions providing meaningful learning opportunities to students during COVID. The group plans to create a a policy brief laying out principles for education support, develop/curate simple resources with ideas and activities for teachers and for parents (to aid caregivers in engaging with children and support their learning) etc. This group meetings are scheduled on Tuesday evenings.
  2. Two meetings of the Working Group on Research<https://educationemergency.net/pipermail/research_educationemergency.net/> have been held - the group is working on compilation/ compendium of research studies; prepare a policy tracker tool comparing states/ districts on their actions/decisions relating to school education. The group is also planning a rapid survey to collect data from ground. This group meetings are scheduled on Thursday evenings.
  3. The Working Group on "Social Mobilization"<https://educationemergency.net/pipermail/socialmobilization_educationemergency.net/> has not yet been setup. We plan to have the first meeting of this working group on Friday Aug 6 or Saturday, August 7. This group will organize meetings with interested individuals and groups in different states to build a larger discourse on the education emergency, and create a social pressure across the country for careful/phased school opening. The meeting will discuss and plan the activities for this group. If you have preferences for Aug 6 or 7, let me know.
  4. A note on education emergency<https://educationemergency.net/2021/08/resume-and-renew-education-for-26-crore-children/> for external audiences has been prepared, which is also attached. We are aiming to translate this note into other languages and also create small / simple video messages based on this note for a wider audience.
  5. The website has been updated with media articles relating to school opening in different states of the country. You can search by giving a state name<https://educationemergency.net/?s=Karnataka>, or an issue (school opening<https://educationemergency.net/?s=school+opening> etc) on the site - these have been configured as 'tags' on the site.

If you would like to join any of the Working Groups, please send an email to info at EducationEmergency.net<mailto:info at EducationEmergency.net>.
To send a mail to all members of the coalition, mail updates at educationemergency.net<mailto:updates at educationemergency.net>
