Discussion highlights:<br>

<li>Briefly, there are immediate follow up activities/meetings
in three states - (i) Karnataka - around August 15 (ii)
Rajasthan - possibly on August 20 (iii) Jharkhand by the end
of August. These meetings will involve different social
organizations and will be organized according to local
contexts and contacts. They will all raise issues related to
the education emergency. <br>

<li>The work done in Karnataka State Coordination Committee of
SMCs of federation at
village, district and state committees through the Vidyarthiya
Nade Shaleya Kade program can also give us inputs</li>
<li>We would prepare a set of resources that organizations and
individuals /parents can use - such as letters, petitions,
educational resources, making use of research findings, policy
trackers etc. <br>

<li>We will leverage the network of organizations to collect
data on different topics through short, high frequency surveys
that can assist the social mobilization work. <br>

<li>We will meet again soon, date to be fixed to discuss and
plan the activities mentioned in the <a

href="https://tinyurl.com/ee-googledrive">google</a> doc and
others, in coordination with the 'state coordinators' of the
social mobilization group. Members need to reach out to their
networks in other states to plan mobilization efforts in that
state.<br>

its </b><b>first meeting of this working group on Saturday,
August 7.</b> This group will organize meetings with interested
individuals and groups in different states to build a larger
discourse on the education emergency, and create a <b>wider
social pressure across the country for careful/phased school
opening.</b> The meeting on Saturday will discuss and plan the
activities for this group.<b> <br>

href="https://educationemergency.net/2021/07/meeting-of-the-education-emergency-coalition-on-16th-july/">meeting</a>
on 16th July, we have had a few activities of the National
Coalition on the <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://educationemergency.net/what-is-educationemergency/">Education
Emergency</a>, as below:<br>
<ol>
<li>A Working group on “<a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://educationemergency.net/pipermail/educationsupport_educationemergency.net/">Education
support to communities</a>” has been setup and has had two
meetings so far. This group is working on producing a
compilation of NGO interventions providing meaningful
learning opportunities to students during COVID. The group
plans to create a a policy brief laying out principles for
education support, develop/curate simple resources with
ideas and activities for teachers and for parents (to aid
caregivers in engaging with children and support their
learning) etc. This group meetings are scheduled on <i>Tuesday
evenings.</i><br>

<li>Two meetings of the Working Group on <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://educationemergency.net/pipermail/research_educationemergency.net/">Research</a>
have been held - the group is working on compilation/
compendium of research studies; prepare a policy tracker
tool comparing states/ districts on their actions/decisions
relating to school education. The group is also planning a
rapid survey to collect data from ground. This group
meetings are scheduled on <i>Thursday evenings.</i></li>
<li>The Working Group on "<a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://educationemergency.net/pipermail/socialmobilization_educationemergency.net/">Social
Mobilization"</a> has not yet been setup. <b>We plan to
have the first meeting of this working group on Friday Aug
6 or Saturday, August 7.</b> This group will organize
meetings with interested individuals and groups in different
states to build a larger discourse on the education
emergency, and create a social pressure across the country
for careful/phased school opening. The meeting will discuss
and plan the activities for this group.<b> </b>If you have
preferences for Aug 6 or 7, let me know. </li>
<li>A <b><a moz-do-not-send="true"

on education emergency</a> </b> for external audiences
has been prepared, which is also attached. We are aiming to
translate this note into other languages and also create
small / simple video messages based on this note for a wider
audience.</li>
<li>The website has been updated with media articles relating
to school opening in different states of the country.You can

name</a>, or an issue (<a moz-do-not-send="true"

opening</a> etc) on the site - these have been configured
