Dear all,
Telangana has issued its 'academic calendar'
(https://educationemergency.net/2021/08/school-opening-guidelines/) on
3.9. However this document has no mention of Covid pandemic and no
support for any student learning to accommodate for the regression
during school closure! It asks teachers to get their Class X students
ready for the board exams by 10 January. This is likely to be highly
detrimental to students, there is a need to provide an open period
before grade level syllabi can be commenced, at least for 6 months.
I think it would be important to write to the Secretary Education,
Telangana and alert them of the danger of assuming zero impact from
Covid closure.
Ranjani/Mythili, any suggestions on how we could go about this?
This same approach is likely to be adopted by most governments and
strong response would be needed. The 'social mobilization' of
parents/teacher groups would also need to bring this issue up.
regards,
Guru
